Creator: Alain Bidard is an award-winning animation film director from the Caribbean island of Martinique. After his graduation in SUPINFOCOM, one of the best Computer Graphics schools in Europe, his first film, “Pixies”, entered many festivals including the prestigious Imagina festival in Monaco and Anima Folioscope in Bruxelles. Between 2000 and 2007, he directed many short films which garnered multiple nominations and awards. In 2008, Alain Bidard began the production of his first animation feature film, “Battledream Chronicle”, a film that has been selected in more than 50 festivals and won eight awards in the twelve months following its release.
Project:Battledream Chronicle is an animated series based on the award-winning animation feature film of the same name.
Summary: The series takes place in Martinique and tells about the story of Syanna and her classmates, who struggle to succeed at school during a futuristic age where everyone is a slave and must bring 1000 experience points every month to their master in exchange for their life. Those experience points can only be collected in Battledream, a dangerous video game where players die for real.
Battledream Chronicle is an attempt at explaining Black slavery to the youth through a futuristic science-fiction story intended for a 7-13 years old audience. This series will strongly attract Black, Caribbean and African-descent people but also any video game and Science-fiction fan regardless of their ethnicity.
Battledream Chronicle is also a transmedia franchise designed to be developed in feature films, series, comic books, artbooks, CD and other merchandising.
