34th Edition, March 5- 13, 2016
The 34th edition of Bergamo Film Meeting will take place in Bergamo from March 5 to 13, 2016. The Festival will be
inaugurated officially on Friday March 4 at 21:00 at Teatro Sociale with the Italian premiere of the live performance by the Icelandic band múm, performing a live scoring of the film Menschen am Sonntag (Men on a Sunday – 1929).
Alongside the OFFICIAL COMPETITION, the Festival will present VISTI DA VICINO (CLOSE-UP), a section dedicated to documentaries; a broad RETROSPECTIVE featuring as protagonist the great master of Hungarian cinema Miklós Jancsó (1921-2014); a TRIBUTE to Anna Karina, and finally, EUROPE NOW! Contemporary European Cinema, a foray into the new European cinema featuring retrospectives on the complete works by Jasmila Žbanić (Bosnia), Petr Zelenka (Czech Republic), Shane Meadows (UK) and a selection of short films from European film schools in collaboration with the Municipal School of Cinema of Milan; a focus on animated films dedicated to Vladimir Leš iov č (Latvia); the VIDEO ART-INSTALLATION Books on Shelves and Without Letters by Lithuanian Deimantas Narkevi ius č (Bergamo, March 4 – 31, Porta Sant’Agostino Hall) and the RETROSPECTIVE dedicated to the video-art works by Israeli Keren Cytter offered in collaboration with The Blank; the INAUGURATION of Bergamo Jazz, and also premiers, cult movies, meetings with authors, happy hour events and many other surprises.
