Kenny Mann:
Kenny Mann was born and raised in Kenya. She graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1968 with a degree in Zoology, Botany and Chemistry, and went on to study filmmaking at Bristol University, UK. In 1970, Kenny moved to Hamburg, Germany, where she worked as a researcher and script-writer for a seminal series of documentary films on animal behavior. At the same time, she began her career as an independent filmmaker. Her first film, POWERPLAY, was screened in Hamburg in 1972. In 1982, Kenny moved to the USA, where she has worked as a free-lance journalist and independent filmmaker ever since. She has made 10 documentary films and one short experimental film, and is working on two feature screenplays. In 1992, Kenny earned a Masters Degree in Education from Manhattan’s Bank Street College, and has since then developed and taught curriculum on many topics for all age groups. Kenny is the author of eight history books for younger readers, and teaches documentary film in the US and Kenya.
