“Le Ballon Rouge” a Fashion Film

“Le Ballon Rouge” a Fashion Film is a lookbook shot on spec in one day around the Los Angeles Arts District & nearby Downtown locations. The idea was to showcase how we could incorporate the concept from a 1957 short film “Red Balloon” by Albert Lamorisse to a local designer or clothing brand for commercial purposes. The original film “Le Ballon rouge”, played by Pascal Lamorisse, was a French fantasy comedy-drama featurette with a runtime of thirty-five-minutes.

It follows the adventures of a young boy who one day finds a sentient, mute, red balloon, whom he befriends. It was filmed in the Ménilmontant neighbourhood of Paris & went on to win numerous awards, including an Oscar for best original screenplay in 1956 at the Palme d’Or for short films & at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival. It also became popular with children and educators. It is the only short film to win the Academy Award for Best Writing (Original Screenplay) and to receive a nomination for anything besides Best Live Action Short Film.
