San Diego Women’s Film Network launch event on July 19, 2016


At our kickoff event, accomplished speakers in the film and entertainment industry provided valuable insight and advice while discussing the high-priority issues facing women in the filmmaking industry today during the following two panels:
Diversifying Women’s Role in Entertainment
The speakers in this panel discussed their experiences on carving their path in the industry, dissected what and how things have changed, what needs to be done for women moving forward, as well as shared their thoughts on why women still hit roadblocks. The speakers also discussed mentoring the next generation of creative women and provided advice on how to nurture a long lasting career.

Keynote Speaker:
Krista Vernoff
Krista Vernoff was Head Writer and Executive Producer of “Grey’s Anatomy” for seasons 2-7, for which she won a Golden Globe Award, a Writer’s Guild of America Award, and was nominated for a Dramatic Writing Emmy for her episode, “Into You Like A Train.” Throughout her career, Krista has written for a broad variety of television shows including NBC’s “Law & Order,” the WB’s “Charmed,” and FOX’s short-lived cult phenomenon “Wonderfalls.” She is currently a writer and Executive Producer on Showtime’s hit series “Shameless” and has projects in development with John Wells Productions, Bad Robot Productions, and Warner Brothers.
